Abstract

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to associate quality of life, focusing on the Beck Inventory indices, with the personality profile of medical students based on the Five-Factor Model from a Higher Education Institution. METHODS: Data on the personality traits and depression levels of 101 medical students from two diferente classes were collected in 2020 and 2022. CONCLUSIONS: In class 1, depression prevalence was observed at 17% and 15% in the first and third years, respectively. The results revealed a predominance of traits such as agreeableness, openness to experience, and conscientiousness among the students. It was noted that men exhibited a 46% higher vulnerability to depression compared to women. These findings align with previous studies highlighting the prevalence of stress, depression, and anxiety among medical students, as well as the role of personality traits in contributing to negative outcomes.
