Abstract

Objective: to characterize the clinical-epidemiological profile of individuals recovered from COVID-19, residents in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. Method: cross-sectional study of COVID-19 recovered cases, between 2020 and 2021. Sociodemographic characteristics, symptoms and presence of comorbidities were analyzed, considering two groups, recovered from wave 1 (RO1) and wave 2 (RO2). Results: of the 251,176 participants, 125,501 were from RO1 and 125,675 from RO2. 74% lived in Salvador-BA and were symptomatic (86%). 21,574 (8,58%) had comorbidities, 54% in RO1 and 48% in RO2. The most prevalent comorbidity was chronic heart disease (3.9%), followed by diabetes (3.0%). The epidemiological profile included adults, residents in Salvador-BA, without comorbidities, with symptoms of cough and fever. Conclusion: the characterization of those recovered provides support for the formulation of health policies and strengthen surveillance and prevention systems that can mitigate the effects of new pandemics, ensuring an approach that promotes equitable health and population resilience.
