Potentialities and fragilities of the prenatal first care in Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil

Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the assistance to pregnant women by analyzing the card, in educational actions. Method: exploratory and descriptive research, with 50 pregnant women in the third trimester. Results: the majority was 20 and 29 years old (n = 33), stable union (n = 20), high school (n = 35), paid work (n = 33), first pregnancy (n = 28). Completely filled cards, in 64% (n=32), made seven or more consultations. Conclusions: the potentialities were the scheduling of the appointments, and the assessment of the clinical parameters in them. The fragilities found were the lack of vinculation of the expecting women with the maternity of reference, and the inadequacies of the complementary exams.
