Resumo

Objetivo: identificar informações e lacunas no planejamento de cuidados paliativos para idosos. Metodologia: revisão integrativa de 27 artigos identificados nas bases de dados: BVS, BDENF, Lilacs, Web of Science e Scopus. Resultados: análise organizada em cinco categorias temáticas: conceitos e finalidades, comunicação, relação com especialidades, dificuldades e desafios e diretivas antecipadas de vontade. Comunicação ineficaz e o déficit na formação profissional são desafios da assistência paliativa. Conclusão: há necessidade de capacitação profissional para favorecer a compreensão do propósito dos cuidados paliativos, para a comunicação efetiva, tomada de decisão e padronização das condutas.
