Abstract

Objective: to identify, synthesize and evaluate the risk of mortality in patients with chronic diseases affected by COVID-19. Method: systematic review. Search the databases PUBMED, Science Direct, EBSCOhost and The BMJ with descriptors: covid-19, chronic disease, mortality and cohort study. Results: the main chronic diseases were Heart Disease, Chronic Lung Disease, Systemic Arterial Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Kidney Diseases. The prognosis of these patients affected by SARS-CoV-2 was unfavorable, with a high risk of mortality. Conclusion: the prognosis of patients with pre-existing comorbidities indicates a greater need for intensive treatment.
