Abstract

Introduction: Currently the Brazilian population have a prevalence of chronic-degenerative diseases. The breast cancer is the most frequent type among women. Objectives: This project has an objective to identify the influences of the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in women, considering the biopsychosocial aspects. Methodology: Qualitative study, through semi-structured interviews with women diagnosed with breast cancer. Results: Most of the women interviewed  were with family or friends, were single and lived with relatives. They were able to undergo the process of acceptance of the disease, they suffered with the changes in the social scope and improvement of the spirituality after the diagnosis. Conclusion: The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer have important consequences for the biopsychosocial and spiritual environment of the women.
