Assesment of the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) for undergraduate and teachers in nursing

Abstract

Objective: evaluate the students and professors perception about the OSCE in a Nursing Graduation Course. Materials and Methods: It is a cross-sectional study, quali-quantitative, descriptive and documentary. Participated in this survey 52 students submitted to OSCE and 22 professors in 2013. Different semi-structured questionnaires were applied to students as well as professors. The quantitative analysis was given from the percentage distribution and measures of central tendency. Qualitative data were categorized by Content Analysis, proposed by Bardin. Results and Discussion: It was found that OSCE is an important assessment for the student training. Logistics and evaluation during the exam were satisfactory, but aspects related to realism and simulation need improvement. Final Considerations: It is suggested more technological investment during the preparation of the OSCE, in order to contribute to the development of skills among the students.
